The position of smartphone brands in India’s smartphone market has traditionally been heavily influenced by sales during the country’s festive season. Starting on September 23 and running through September 30, 2018, a massive annual sale was held this year. Samsung dominated the market with a 26% share, leaving Xiaomi and Realme in second and third place with 20% and 17% shares, respectively.
It has been reported that during the first week of festive sales in India, over 12.8 million cell phones were purchased. It resulted in US$2.1 billion in revenue, an increase of 17% year-over-year.
Samsung, Xiaomi, and Realme reaped the greatest benefits from the holiday discount. Samsung is expected to have sold 3.3 million smartphones, putting it in the lead, while Chinese manufacturers fell to second place due to the allure of deep price cuts across all price points and strengthened channel presence.
Moreover, Apple made some strong sales as well, despite not being one of the top three brands. This season’s best-selling smartphone was the iPhone 13, according to our analysis. Additionally, the iPhone 14 seems and feels quite identical to the iPhone 13, with the exception of satellite connectivity and a crash detection feature. The 13th-generation iPhone and the 14th-generation iPhone both have the same chipset. The Christmas sales in India saw a rise in demand for such a phone due to a reduction that made it more affordable.
